• Hotel pickup and drop-off (the tour meets at a highly accessible, central downtown location).
• Hot chocolate, food, or beverages (we highly recommend grabbing a warm drink before the tour begins!).
• Interior access to federal buildings or the White House.

Meeting Point

Meet at the front steps on the K Street side of the Apple Carnegie Library. This is the large, beautifully lit plaza facing K St NW, directly across from the Marriott Marquis.

• This is a seasonal, 100% outdoor walking tour that operates during the brisk Washington D.C. winter months, meaning temperatures will be very cold, especially after sunset. The tour runs rain, snow, or shine, and navigating the crowded holiday pathways requires a moderate level of mobility.
• Winter Weather: The tour operates completely outdoors in freezing winter conditions. We proceed in snow, light rain, or biting wind.
• Heavy Crowds: The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace are major tourist attractions; expect very dense crowds and tightly packed pedestrian pathways.
• Physical Pacing: You will be walking outdoors for approximately 2 hours; a moderate level of physical stamina is required to keep up with the group in the cold.
• Restroom Availability: Public restrooms near the Ellipse are extremely limited and often feature long lines during the holiday season; please plan accordingly.

What do I need to bring?

• Because you will be walking outdoors during the freezing D.C. winter, heavy layers and thermal protection are your absolute highest priorities. Bring a fully charged smartphone for nighttime holiday photos and wear highly supportive, insulated footwear.
• Heavy Winter Clothing: Thermal layers, heavy winter coats, insulated gloves, thick scarves, and winter hats are absolutely mandatory for your comfort and safety.
• Comfortable, Warm Footwear: Wear insulated, flat walking shoes or winter boots. Do not wear heels or thin-soled shoes, as the ground will be freezing.
• Hand & Toe Warmers: We highly recommend bringing disposable hand and toe warmers to slip into your gloves and boots.
• Camera or Smartphone: Bring a fully charged device to capture the brilliant holiday lights (note: cold batteries drain much faster, so a portable charger is helpful!).
